Northern Michigan University’s College of Technology and Occupational Sciences invites applications for an Automotive Services Assistant Professor-TAS. This is a three year term position at the rank of Assistant Professor-TAS to begin in August 2018. This is a campus-based position.
Duties and Responsibilities: Develop and teach undergraduate courses for a two-year automotive service technician program. Further responsibilities include assessment of student learning outcomes, maintaining a professional teaching learning environment, application of laptop computers in the learning environment, service to the department, and perform other assignments per departmental needs.
Maintain NATEF accreditation for the program and teach to NATEF standards. Work effectively with advisory committees and community groups. Manage classroom and shop/lab to ensure that there is a productive and safe learning environment. Additionally, there is an expectation to promote college programs and enhance community relationships.
Minimum Qualifications: -Bachelors in the field of Automotive. -ASE Master Certification. -Three years of field or work experience in automotive services.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: -Understanding of principles and methods for course development, teaching and instruction for groups or individuals, and assessment of outcomes. -Ability to communicate effectively with peers and students both orally and in writing. -Ability to work effectively and productively with others. -Time management skills. -Ability to work with minimal supervision. -Ability to operate and maintain a working automotive shop environment. -Ability to understand industry service information software.
